Solved: Windows Store Apps Cannot Connect to the Internet

This is one of those reoccurring problems that usually strike after another major Windows 10 update. Apps have no access to the Internet whatsoever. And we’re talking all app including even Microsoft Edge. The error or its code is not identical for different applications, but it does not change the point of the problem.

Apps from the Store cannot connect to the Internet and ask you to check your connection even though all other web browsers and programs are working like everything is ok. Well, it is ok, in fact. The problem is present only for the Windows Store apps. In this guide, we will explain how to fix this abnormality in Windows 10 and make all those apps regain Internet access.

Three easy ways to restore Internet connection for apps in Windows 10

First of all, we must say that this malfunction is just a bug in the system, not a critical error so that it can be fixed fairly easy. According to users’ feedback, these methods are guaranteed to work when you are dealing with minor issues like this one that have nothing to do with firewall settings and more complicated things. So, the first method – just enable the IPv6 protocol in the settings of your active Internet connection:

  • Press Win+R on your keyboard and type ncpa.cpl in the window to appear. Hit Enter.
  • This command will open the window with Network Connections. Right-click on the network you are connected to and select “Properties” from the context menu.
  • In the Networking tab, find and activate the Internet protocol version 6 (TCP/IPv6), if it was disabled before.
  • Click “OK” to confirm the changes made.
  • This step is not necessary, but we still suggest you disconnect from your current network and then connect again.

Check whether the problem is solved. If you are using the PPPoE or PPTP/L2TP connection, apart from changing settings for your current network, you will also need to activate the mentioned protocol for in the Ethernet properties (can be found in the Network Connections menu).

  • Left-click on the Wi-Fi network icon in the system tray on your taskbar (near the clock).
  • Left-click on the active Internet connection, then select Properties.
  • It will open the Settings menu, where you will see your current Network Profile. Change it from Private to Public.

The third method involves the Windows Registry. Even if you don’t know anything about – don’t worry, just follow the steps below:

  • Press Win+R and type regedit in the small window that will appear. Hit Enter.
  • When in Windows Registry, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip6\Parameters
  • Here you need to check if there is a parameter named “DisabledComponents” on the right side. If you find it, you must delete it. Just right-click it and select “Delete.”
  • Reboot your computer (perform a restart, not shut down and start).
