View your location history on Google Maps: How to do it?

Google Maps has a handy feature called Timeline that gives you the ability to see the places you’ve been, as well as your traveled routes. Google has managed to add the ability to combine photos taken at specific locations, allowing you to get a complete view of each of your journeys.

How do I view my location history in Google Maps?

To do this, you should do the following steps:

  1. Launch Google Maps.
  2. Click on your profile picture (top right corner).
  3. Now click on Your timeline.
  4. Select Today.
  5. Swipe left / right to toggle the month in the calendar that appears.
  6. Select the date to see your location history. You’ll see all the routes you traveled, their duration, and the length of the journey.

Disabling Location Tracking

The timeline is a valuable feature for viewing data about previous travels, but sometimes the program tracks you too much. Try disabling location tracking in Maps:

  1. Launch Google Maps.
  2. Click on your profile picture (top right corner).
  3. Click on Your timeline.
  4. Select the small location icon to go to Manage.
  5. Action controls will appear where you want to disable your location history.
  6. Read the instructions and click Pause.
